Message from Claudia Via,CSM Board President Claudia ViaI have always strived to have our savior hold my hand and lead me without fear. As our lord leads and comforts me, I am emboldened to extend my hands to help those not as blessed. The Council of the Southern Mountains provides the hands of dedicated staff members to give a “hand-up” to those who are weak, tired, hungry and oppressed. These strong hands are driven to ensure those without food are fed, those without shelter are housed, those without heat are warm and those without hope are shown there is a light of deliverance rom despair. We hold fast to our neighbors that believe that they do not have a voice. Those hands are then placed on their shoulders for reassurance so the promise of dignity. These warm hands are to give them courage to begin to speak for themselves and understand that their fear can be replaced with hope. This agency exists to extend loving hands that will cradle those less fortunate until they have skills to form a fist of self-reliance. I am fortunate to serve as the President of the Board of Directors of the Council of the Southern Mountains. The hands of the people that work here are calloused from the hard work of helping people achieve dignity and this dignity eliminates the fear of some of life’s hardships. For those we serve, do not fear. Claudia Via
