The next Board of Directors meeting is April 20, 2010. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Keystone Offices. Committee meetings will start at 5:00 p.m.
CSM has opened an Outreach Center in Raysal, WV at the Raysal Head Start Center. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Center staff are Miranda Adams and Kristi Blevins. The telephone number is 304-967-5432. Call for more information and services available.
CSM has been approved as a Community Housing Development Organization through WV Housing Development. We are hopeful this will lead to many opportunities for our consumers in the future.
The Weatherization Assistance Program has received an increase in funding of 3.5 times last year's budget. This is the result of the recent passage of the American Recovery Revitalization Act of 2009 (economic stimulus package). The agency has hired more Weatherization staff and has purchased additional vehicles and equipment. We will now weatherize 98 homes per year, up from 46 last year. There is a great deal of work that has to be done in a short amount of time! Curtis Lindsey is the new Program Coordinator.
The Council has obtained tax exempt 501 c 3 nonprofit status the WV GreenWorks, Inc. to initiate programs to help low to moderate income individuals with green technology in building and home rehabilitation. The project is aimed at reducing the cost of home heating and to work toward energy self-sufficiency for the targeted group. The agency will also work to educate the public and building contractors on state-of-the-art green building techniques and materials. A professional management group to has been hired along with an Executive Director, Sarah Halstead Boland, to get the project running. Ms. Boland is doing a great job.
